I recently got an external hard drive. They are very affordable! I got a 640GB HD for $110. My entire laptop has 100GB, only 60 of which I am using!
I was able to partition it into two sizable chunks. One I use for time machine, to create a snapshot of my entire computer several times a day. This means that if my computer ever fries, I can completely restore it once its been repaired, programs, preferences, and all! The other half of the hard drive I use for media storage and files I don't want sitting around on my computer. I have a lot of art on my hard drive, sometimes saved multiple times in multiple formats. It will be nice to store some of this away and clean my computer up real nice.
I feel very reassured, and grateful that I no longer have to do weekly DVD backups!
I'm going to be making a greater effort to make NeonDragonArt my focus again. Many of you may know that my Deviantart gallery has my most recent art in it, and my livejournal has my thoughts and sketches in it. The fact that I'm using easier-to-update websites instead of my own is problematic, and it's a situation that I need to remedy. I'm going to be cutting all my offsite galleries back to under 50 pieces of artwork so that they're a sampling of my art, not a complete collection. NeonDragonArt is going to have its galleries filled up with more of my past artwork, and all of the current stuff, in addition to a few "NeonDragonArt Exclusives" that I will upload no where else :-)
The forum situation is problematic, and I'm working on correcting the problem. NeonDragonArt currently uses PHPBB2 for its forum system. The problem with this system is that its VERY easy for spambot programs to bypass its security and register accounts on their own. To combat this, I made all user account activation have to go through me. The problem lies in the fact that 50 bots register every day and only one or three actual users a week, making it very hard to sift out what needs to be activated. Users cannot currently upload their own avatars either. Signatures are broken.
All of these problems could be corrected by upgrading to PHPBB3. It would mean creating a new forum and having all existing accounts reregister, but I think that the ability for users to register and activate themselves IMMEDIATELY, upload their own avatars, and have working sigs is gonna be well worth the hassle and lost posts. I'm hoping to get to this sometime this month. We shall see!
Here, have a dragon head I did on my
ustream earlier this week.
