I've searched and searched, searched....and searched again, for ages.

But I can't seem to find any decent digital art foundation courses, just degrees. I'm considering concept art, but I'm nowhere near skilled enough to go do a degree - I need a foundation course first. :[ There's only so far I can go myself, and I feel that I'd progress faster with teaching.

Does anyone know of a good place to do a digital art foundation course? (Preferably in the UK, but I'm pretty desperate, so list any you can think of please!)

HEEEEELLLLLPPP...... *dies*

Or, if you know of a good digital art class/etc, that'd be wonderful too. :-[

Search local colleges. I'm taking a Photoshop class, and I've taken an Illustrator class. Are you old enough for college? Remember that digital art is import but so is traditional art.

I'm completely confident at the moment with traditional art, I just want to keep my digital-traditional art skill balance at the same level, rather than skewed all over the place.

Mmm, I did have a look, but unfortunately, the West Midlands isn't really one for digital art. Any courses that are offered are just the basics of how to use photoshop, or on 3D / logos / etc instead. Need to find a tasty concept art course to dig my teeth into.

I should be old enough - I'm 18 this January. :{

----> Thanks for the advice!

I have taken the basic courses on Photoshop and Illustrator, and you learn a lot. You probably won't find a drawing course in Photoshop class. Take the basic courses, and use what you learn on your pictures. Drawing and painting in Photoshop is a very small part of Photoshop.

It's the course I'm on, and although I know you said you wanted a foundation course first, any digital knowledge that you have would put you at the top of the class anyway. I was one of the few people in my year who knew anything about photoshop. You'd be taught all the basic stuff anyway just to bring everyone up to the same level. You don't even need to have any experience with any form of digital stuffs to join. Although (annoyingly) we do have to do things such as animate and modeling as well as concept art- something which I know I'll look back on someday and be thankful for :P It's just annoying at the moment.

Good luck with it :3 And I think you'd be suprised- I doubt you'd need to do a foundation course first, and from looking at your stuff, I'm pretty sure that if you went for the type of course I'm on now, you'd get in no problem ^^
