Edit: I'm changing this thread to a thread for any books you wish to recommend to anyone else.

I need a book to read. I like fantasy and some sci-fi. Anyone got suggestions?
I had to add that poll. I just couldn't resist. (It's a pretty random poll question. I just saw that poll feature and I had to do one, it looked so tempting)

The Warcraft books are cool, but the Dark Templar Saga is the best. 8D

I might check that out. Thanks for the suggestion.
edit: I looked on my libraries online catalog. Doesn't have any warcraft books, or the dark templar, and I'm not gonna buy them. Any other suggestions?

I rather enjoyed Anne McCaffrey's 'Dragons of Pern' books, there's loads of fantasy in them!

If you want a book with plenty of humor, then I would also recommend 'The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy' if you haven't read it already.

'His Dark Materials' is a good trilogy, a bit depressing in some parts but tons better (in my opinion) than the movie and very well written. It's also pretty well known though so you may have already read it.

I'm afraid I've already read all the dragons of pern books. I've also read his dark materials. However, I have not read a hitchhicker's guide to the galaxy. I shall request it at meh library. :amused:

I love to read but I don't read too many stories. I'm a science nerd so I read lots of books on biology and evolution. I like true stories too and science history especially from around the 1800's. Just got done reading
The Introvert Advantage
Alex & Me
The Bonehunter's Revenge
A Lion in the White House

And have just started working on The Seven Daughters of Eve

All are science or history or both.

I read constantly, probably more so than what's healthy... :P I try not to play favorites, but If I had to give you a suggestion for a good sci-fi book, it would be Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card. It's just amazing... I have to shut up now before I ruin by gushing over it...

I read Enders Game already. It's very good. (See, the reason I need book suggestions is that I go through about a book a day, and I've read what seems like every good fantasy or sci-fi book at my library.)

The Immortals series by Tamora Pierce is a good series (only 4 books). They're aimed at young teenagers, but I still enjoy them. I've heard her 'Song of the Lioness' (or something) series is pretty good too, but I've never got around to looking for them.

Bedlams Bard books from Mercedes Lackey are nice too, they're more... modern Fantasy? Busker turns Bard, has to save the elves of Sanfran or something... been a while since I've read them, but they're good fun.
