How do you artists get back in the ring after an art block.

I don't know how. Because when I got out of an art block I would be able to jump back in action, But now I can't, For some odd reason.

I have good ideas but I can't at all get it on paper/computer.

So anyway you can add on how you artists jump back in the saddle, thats all.

thank you reading all this.

I find random animals or pictures online and draw them out or use them for refs for something. That's what I do to get myself back into the groove of drawing.<3

Oh man, it's been so long since I've actually even been allowed to have art block. I just can't afford the time to waste on it.

So, I guess--my cure is an insane "to-do" list that I must complete on time--or face the consequences :9 I'm drawing every day of the week--at least 4 hours each day. Except the occasional sunday which I take off to spend with the lovely boyfriend. 8D

If jumping back into drawing what you've BEEN drawing seems unappealing, try something completely different.

For example. in 2006 I was drawing primarily people, whereas I jumped back to dragons/creatures in 2007/8 and now I'm kinda getting sick of dragons (oh boy, with a book on them that's due so soon... ahhh) and want to draw some people :-)

You could try different mediums as well. Perhaps if you've been working with watercolors, working with acrylics might be a nice change of pace. Or going from digital to colored pencils and visa versa.

Try something that changes it up a bit! :yahoo:

NeonDragon has got a good point. Usually whenever I get out of the swing of drawing I just kind of take a break and have some fun. The thing that usually rejuvinates my mind is watching the sun or the moon. Cheesy I know, but it works. Or I just draw little bits of it over time. When I finish I want to draw some more.

At least for me, I've found that art blocks are caused by myself becoming too critical of something and stopping because I feel I can't do something right or that I'm bothered that I can't finish something else. I just need to get myself into drawing.. whatever. Just drawing anything, something, for no reason at all, just to make lines on paper.

Usually this helps loosen me up and snap me out of my block.

I have three art rockets that I like to shoot at my artist blocks; so far, they've had a pretty good success rate of blowing it to pieces.

First off, I just look at art I really like; as that always gets me inspired, and inspiration melts art blocks like shoop da whoop laz0rs.
Secondly, I read tutorials; after getting all inspired, reading tutorials gives me the motivation and desire to keep working.
And if both of those fail; I just doodle... I pick something I like, and just doodle it. I don't care if it looks right, I just enjoy it. And that seems to be very effective. 8D

Eww, I'm having a horrendous human art block. *dies* I have to draw a human for someone and I just can't get it right. I think I'll look at different stuff to get inspired. :amused:

I think I came here for advice more than to post what I do, because when I get the stubborn things I just get rather mad. I've only got two years to improve before hopefully getting accepted into art college, and I'm trying not to take too many days off from drawing. X3;;
