There have been a surge of them on this forum--and lets face it, they suck. Nobody likes 'em.

When you see a spambot post, kindly report it (which a lot of you have been doing quite well :] ) and please leave it at that. A moderator will come to bring down the mighty banhammer as soon at they can.

In the mean time, I'll ask that you please do not reply in bot threads. I can definitely understand the need to voice your frustrations--but when you do this, it takes us longer to delete the thread. This is because we mods have to go through and delete each post made in that thread individually before we can delete the thread itself.

It's simply a matter of helping to make things a little more time efficient for you friendly neighborhood mods :]

Also--a lot of the time, it's a program posting these threads (aka: bots)--not a human being, so they can't read your responses anyways :<

Thanks a ton, guys!
Cheers.

Thanks for what you guys do. We forum goers appreciate it. :) And thanks for the banhammer. It's a wonderful thing.
(By the way there's a Yahoo!bot that's constantly on the guest list as a registered member, it's grayed out and kind of hard to see but it's there. Not sure if anyone has reported it yet, so I do now. EDIT: There's also a google one too.)

The google and Yahoo bots are friends :] they're indexing bots so that this forum may show up on their search engines and such.
They are also impossible to ban. They're docile, harmless creatures. <3

So how do we identify said Spam Bots? So we can point them out for execution.

spambots are usually identifiable by the fact that they put advertisement topics on every forum over and over again

Actually, I think if you just go to the mod-tools dropdown box beneath each thread, you can delete the entire topic, even if it has posts in it:

Not sure how to report a post, so I'll post the link here.

viewtopic.php?f=12&t=868

It's in this area. It just popped up recently. It's definitally either a spambot or someone we DON'T want here. :-m

Thanks. Also, if I should just contact an admin next time directly let me know!
