Chapter 4 Last Day To Dream. Staviskasta {AKA The Facility}
It was a complex system, this virus, it would dig under your skin and build up like building blocks. Growing and growing until it reached its breakpoint. At that point, when the user could no longer handle it, it either took more of the virus into its system, or it cracked under it, becoming a lifeless shell. The Virus fed off the host, but kept the host alive. A shell of distrubance... Really to be point blank. It would never end, five thousand gallons of the Virus, known as Aiviexia Virus, was pumped, churned, and born every seven hours. Staviskasta built to hold the entire thing. The Virus, the doctors, the Scientists, the Bioloigists, the labs, the Feeding, and of course... The Hosts. If you thought the world outside was a nightmare, then you have never seen Staviskasta. Over five hundred miles below the ground, it ranged a good twenty miles across at its tip. It was a drill like ship, spiraled down, it was held up by a strong structure of metals and woods, the top base being a lone building. Empty, desolate. Staviskasta was bullet proof.
The intellegance on the inside was strong. They knew all on the outside, had gaurds on the outside and inside. Some things would get in... But those things, would never get out. Doctor Ryan Wright... That was his name. He specialized both as a surgeon, and a simple doctor. His accomplice, Alice Egardiez, Was the mastermind behind the Aiviexia Virus. Just as well she knew what had to be done for it to work effiecantly in an organism's complex system, so that the Virus could work well with the Body's different functions. Alice was a mastermind.
Doctor Wright walked down to the room, he opened the door, saw James, sitting on his knees, blood covering him, he did not move. Wright knelt down infront of him, giving a smile he said, "James? Can you hear me?" James averted his eyes, saw Wright and locked his eyes to Wright's. Wright smiled, "You want more of it... Don't you?" James clenched his jaw in response and growled,"Yes." "If you want more... You have to do something for me." Wright responded with a sly smile. James looked at him, lifting his head, his eyes dark, he snarled, "What?" "Loyalty.. James. Give me your loyalty." James froze, thinking quick, he was unsure, but the craving for the Virus was killing him, "Where is Marcus?!" He snapped, his mind working to fast for his body to keep up. His mind said stand, he was stuck sitting. "We are doing our best to find him, I can assure you." Wright responded. James licked his lips... He was thinking way to fast... "Do you want more of the virus?" Wright asked. James could only say, his smile on his face, "Yes."
Wright walked down the hall, James was well taken care of for the moment. He went to the room on the left, Opening the door, he walked in, it was small, no lights except for the one chandilier hanging from the ceiling. He dropped a file on the desk, shoving it across the table. Wright looked to Alice sitting where the folder stopped. She looked at him, her dark black hair catching the light she did not touch the folder but merely hissed with venom in her voice, "I don't like what you are doing!" "Never asked your opinion, Alice." Wright responded, a little more joyous instead of the bite Alice had. She snarled and got to her feet, "The Aiviexia Virus was Not meant for this, Wright! It was meant for something better, to help the world. Not hurt a Dragon and a little child." "I needed Selec alive, otherwise finding James would have been harder. Besides, he is not getting any higher doses than he has already." "I don't care. You are creating a monster..." "James was already a monster." "What of Azer?" "She is a simple prodigy in my new world." "I hate you..." "But I love you." Wright said smiling. "What happens when he snaps? A dog can only take so much of the whip." "Yes, That may be true, but what dog ever bit the hand that feeds it?"
The Feeding Room.... A massive room, meant to hold the Aiviexia Virus. It was built with a massive abyss in the center of a ring around the walls, four doors sitting around the room, each one double. On all four sides were massive plasma screens, one having a keyboard infront of it. Each of these Screens showed the stability of the Aiviexia Virus, as well as the Viruses' Host. The plasma screens as well showed a camera feed from inside the cage hung from the rafters above abyss. In one of the areas of the room sat a Machine, it ranged from floor to roof, A large glass window sitting on it, filled with blood and of course, the vermilion colored Virus. This room was traced with cords and wires, some leading from the tanks inside the abyss to the machine, these were bright vermilion, lambent. Other Wires led to the Host sitting in the cage. Rods were in the Host's body, the wires sitting on them, draining and filling... A push and pull game. Tug-O-War.
The Entire process worked flawlessly. The cage was hung by thick chains to the rafters and metal structures that held the above floor up. This was the bottom floor. Drop point, the tip of the Facility. The Cage was barred, the bars thick, considered unbreakable. It was congruent to itself, equal in all sides and angles. The bottom of the cage was not barred, but a sheer metal floor. Hinges sat on the floor, able to break away in case of an emergancy. Four doors sat on each of the sides of the cage, minus the top and bottom. In the center of the cage, was the Host: James.
Chains held onto his wrists, his legs, ankles, his neck and upper arms, chained to the metal bars sitting on the floor, one along the chains on his arms, the chain on his neck attached to this same bar, the chains on his ankles and legs attached to the other bar. Rods struck into his spine, sides, arms, and legs, each one being fed the Aiviexia Virus. James sat, head hung, motionless. The Aiviexia virus rendering him motionless. His eyes could move, blink, his mouth could twitch, but not open, and he could breathe. He closed his eyes, keeping his breath calm, letting the machine play its tug of war on his body as it mixed his blood with the Aiviexia Virus.
The doors cracked open and someone came in, James still sat motionless however. The person, a male, walked up to the rails, he placed his hands on it, looked to the control panel sitting next to him, saw the red eject button, then pushed the button next to it, this one green. It went lambent and he backed up, the railing folding on itself as a small walkway coming from the ring, to the cage, this copied on all four entry ways. The boy walked to the cage, the doors swinging open, clean hinges.. No screech or groan of metal. The boy climbed up into the Cage and moved his way to James. He sat beside him and whispered, "Dad?" Selec looked at James who averted his eyes to his son. He gave a twitch of his lips, a slight smile. Selec smiled back... He wanted to stay, but he could not. He whispered, "I'll see you later..." He went to leave, "I love you Dad.." James felt the tears, but he fought them... He missed Selec... A lot.
It wasa few more hours till the doors opened again. This time, Doctor Wright came in, followed by a few collegues, Three of them, each with a clipboard and pen. A thought crossed James mind, They have pens because they never make mistakes... He looked at Wright who seemed to know what James was thinking, giving the look of, 'Until-Today.' James gave another half hearted smile, knowing what Wright meant. Wright turned to his collegues and spoke, a formal tone, but a hint of humor in his voice, "This is Host 52313. He is currently found in Vault 230 and is on stable terms." "Sir, Doctor Wright, You told us that while in the Feeding stage they were considered unstable?" The tallest one spoke, his blond hair almost white. James kept his eyes on him. "I did say that didn't I? My bad, he is unstable, but while not being fed he is stable. More clear?" "Yes, very." A red haired man spoke, a smart tone in his voice.. James felt a growl in his throat. The black haired one nodded to James and said, "Is is possible to ask him some questions?" "Yes." Wright responded.The black haired man walked closer and James could read the visitor's tag on his shirt, A.H.Wiferin. Wiferin looked to James and spoke in a clear tone, "What is your name?" James bared his teeth, Wright walked to the control panel and said, "My bad.. Give me a second... " He hit the red button, it flared a turqoise blue and James caught his breath, the bottom of the cage jerked away, and he fell, held up by the chains and bars... He hissed, able to move as the rods withdrew from his body he gritted his teeth and narrowed his eyes. The blonde asked, "Does that hurt him?" Typical of a blonde. He did not recieve an answer. Wiferin spoke, "What is your name?" James responded, "My name is James Ryan Jericho Lecter." "You think you are human?" "No." "Do you know who made you?" "What kind fo question is that?" "Who made you." "Well, see when a Mom and a Dad Really Love eachother-" "I get the point." Wiferin cut him off, "Any siblings? Brothers, Sisters?" "Two dead Sisters, a Brother who is alive. Any idea where he is?" Wiferin wrote something on his clipboard, then, "What is your Dragon's name?" "Azerbeyne." "What's your Favorite food?" "What the hell is this, twenty-twenty Questions?" James snarled. "Just answer." " I don't eat." "Why?" "I don't need to." "I see..." Wiferin nodded, "How do you feel about this...Testing?" "Now you are my therapist... Wonderful." "52313, Answer the question." "It is JAMES!" James yelled, jerking, the chains rattled and Wiferin took a step back, "Obvious anger problems.." "OBVIOUS?!" James screamed, the Aiviexia Virus building on the rage, his voice lowered, "Wiferin? That is your name?" "Yes.." "What is your first?" "I thought I was asking the questions?" "Answer. Me." "Adam." "That's my Father's name..." "Is it?" "Yes." "Amazing... Nice memory. Do you remember how you died?" "Yes." "how?" A pause... James glared, then said," My best friend shot me eight times." "Interesting.." Wiferin walked away and James jerked against the chains, hissing in rage, the chains rattled in protest and he fought against them. Eyes locked onto the back of Wiferin's head. Wiferin looked at his clipboard, then to Wright, "I want this place shut down. Now." "I'm afraid I can't do that, Doctor Wiferin." Wright responded with a grim smile. "And why not?" "Because that means flushing over seven years of research down the drain. Wasting billions of dollars, I can't do that." "Then I will." "I don't think So. Not on my watch." "And who is going to stop me?" Wiferin asked.
Wright pressed a smaller button, above the Eject one, that created a series of clicks, he then pressed the button the Selec had, the walkway opening up, each one meeting at the center, the clicks turned to loud cracks of sound and the chains let go, James dropping to the floor. He stood up, cracking his neck, he looked to Wiferin, a sinister smile on his face. Wiferin narrowed his eyes, "What are you doing Doctor Wright?" "James?" Wright asked. "Yes?" James responded, his now bright ice blue eyes locked onto Wiferin, the red streaks in it as it held a reflective Cornia. "Teach Doctor Wiferin what happens when someone fucks with the system." "My Pleasure." James answered. Wiferin backed up till his back hit the cold wall, he watched as James came forward, so lithe, a strange movement, he was fast, but graceful in each step.... Power radiating like aurora. He was soon so close to Wiferin that Wiferin could catch the smell of blood from James. He stuttered, "B-Back O-Off from... M-M-Me..." James smiled, "I can smell your fear..."Wiferin cringed, "I know how you think, as for this place shutting down? Oh no... I'll tell you what though... It can shut down for you.. Everything will shut down for you." "What do you mean?" "Do you know what death tastes like, Doctor?" James said, mocking the word Doctor. "No.." "Would you like to know?" "No." "I don't take no as an answer." James snarled, he grabbed Wiferin by the throat, his nails digging into Wiferin's jugular vein, he lifted him off the ground, "I don't play around, Endangering my survival is something I won't allow. Endangering the hand that feeds me... Hell no. You don't fuck with the system, Doctor Wiferin. Or should I call you Adam?" He Dropped Wiferin to the floor who was caughing, a small trickle of blood from his throat where James' nails had dug deep into the Jugular vein. Wiferin looked up at James, "You... Your fucking Crazy." "CRAZY?!" James yelled, a laugh in his throat, a fit of hysteria, "Crazy? Oh I'll show you fucking crazy!" He grabbed A hold of Wiferin's arm, dragging him to the chains that now hung above the walkway. He dropped Wiferin and grabbed one of the rods, looked to Wright, and snarled, "Shut it off." Wright nodded, pulling down a lever, smiling as his little child did the dirty work... James held the rod, looking at Wiferin, "Here's fucking crazy for you!" He dragged the Metal rod down and it sunk into Wiferin's flesh, into the back out of the chest. Wiferin screamed in pain and struggled against James who bent the rod so Wiferin could not get free, He let go and grabbed another, pulling this one through Wiferin's Arm, he repeated this with both the legs and arms, as he had been... He looked to Wright when he was done with that part and smiled, Wright nodded, and James walked back to him, "Allow me?" James asked witha smile. Wright nodded, "Its all yours." The other men watched in shock, James pushed the button for the Walkways and they folded in, the railing closing up, and wiferin, now hung suspended in air by the rods, "How is that for fucking crazy, eh Doctor?" James said with a smile. Wiferin screamed in agony and James snarled, "You do NOT fuck with the system. Hear me?"
Wiferin screamed, "I hear you!!" James smiled, "Good." He pushed the eject button, holding it down, a sudden loud CRACK Exploded and the rods broke off the chains... Wiferin falling into the abyss.. To his death. James looked to the other men, "Who's next?" Both backed up, the blonde shook at his knees, screamed and tried to run, James rolled his eyes as the man ran forward, grabbed the railing and tried to run to the other side of the room, James hit the button for the walkway, the railing gave way, and the man fell, having put his whole weight on the railing, he fell into the abyss as well. The other, the red head, was smater. He put down the clipboard, walked to James and looked him dead in the eyes, "I am ready." James smiled, but it faded, "You don't fear me?" "No. I know what you are." "What am I?" "You are-" He was cut off by a sudden Crack of thunder... A bullet shattering his skull. He fell to his knees, James stood still as the man fell completely. Tilting his head to the side as the blood pooled around him. James looked at Wright who said, "Some things are best to not be known." "where is Marcus?" "You will soon find out. You should fine the connection you have with him is coming back." James struggled in his mind, it was a mess of memory and blood. He found it... His Brother's name, face, voice... The Brother's Grimm. He grasped the link with everything he could, but his mind would not form words... All there was, was the feeling, that he was there... James could Feel.... He smiled, it faded... What would Marcus think of him?
