I actually did two versions of this. This version (soft shading) and a soft-hard shaded one. In the end I liked the consistency of this one better. I may go in and add some sand swirlies around his feet, too - just to connect him a bit more. ;)

I really like the detail and the how the colors work. I would suggest adding some line weight variation, especially with all the detail, I think it would really add a lot!

My lineart is full of variation. It's my style. You probably just can't tell here because of the shading. I can post the lines if you'd like a closer look. ;)

It reminds me very much of the Wanderer from King's Quest VII, except this guy looks like he actually knows what he's doing.

In that case just make it more noticeable, cause I didn't notice, so I'm sure others didn't either. Not being mean, but if that's your line variation, exaggerate it because it looks like you don't have any.

Like I said - it's probably either the file size, dark shading, or a combination. You can check out any of my other works - all have noticeable line variation - the extent of which depends on the picture.
