Wow, you certainly begin a lot of projects, I hope you will be able to finish them all!

I see that you have now finished your contest entry and it looks quite good
I would have altered the tail a bit more however, the bend in the beginning still seemed a bit too sharp. I did this weird section thing (file name critique 1) to show you how I would have drawn it. You were VERY close, but it still didn't come off as graceful as it could be to me.

For your flying dragon picture, I would go with the top one. The bottom one is very confusing with all those limbs and fingers being visible, plus it is much easier to work with the wings being as they are in the top picture rather than the bottom.


Vampira looks like she's really coming together, but I shall help you with your boulder/rock situation and maybe a few tweaks with her hind legs.

For the boulder, I suggest just finding some awesome pictures of them and sketching them first before doing a final version. I found this boulder http://www.brandywinequarry.com/images/boulder2-lg.jpg and it looks very similar to the rock you chose. I simply applied this boulder to the rock Vampira is sitting on and I came out with the file labeled critique 2 Messy I know, but I tried to get the biggest feature in the rock to show. It may be annoying to add all that detail in, but, it will make the rock look believable.

Vampira's hind legs look fine, but the feet stick out too much. In regular animals, and in the cheetah pictures I showed you earlier, the back legs are behind the front legs rather than in front, or in line with. I did a red-line to show you what I mean (critique 3). Also, the calves are slightly broader near the knee and slope in near the ankles.

Hmm.. I see all of your points, Bat :D Thanks, I will update them! And thank you so much for the help with the rock. I looked up tutorials, but they didn't help :/

And this is one piece I'm having a blast on! Haven't had this much fun since...why, I can't remember XD I was inspired by Hydra-Tamer. She said she was inspired to draw her character by Sangyne, and that inspired me! Referenced the hell out of the face, with my own pics I took and tutorials. Originally I was going to wear a robe, but it looked like a dress :/ The legs and feet are what I'm having trouble with.

And before you see the pic, I would like to mention two things: The wings are jointed like that on purpose, and the tail is supposed to be that long. OK, well more than two. There are muscles lining the inside of wing to help control it, to bring in the flabby skin when they are folded up, and to help support the wing in flight. The wings are supposed to be gigantic, bigger than they are in this pic.

I might make me have the characteristics of my Angel species, an anorexic human-like creature with huge chest muscles and light bones. Haven't decided yet.

Oh ya, and I don't have my glasses, mainly because I look odd if I have them in this pic :/

Cool! I like him! The wings don't look big to me, I think they look good at that size. I can't wait to see him finished!

I've fixed up the leaning problem she had. And I'm not too sure on the position of her left hand Any suggestions/redlines/critique?

I also have half a mind to add a monocle to her left eye XD

I think that if you shorten the walking stick/staff a bit, you'll be able to show more arm.
You could maybe even turn the elbow out to the side a bit, so you can see more arm. I keep making the pose with my own arm and I tend to have my elbow out to the side a little, instead of straight back, like in the picture.

I think a good thing to do is pose in front of a mirror. Notice what feels most natural and what doesn't feel right, or awkward. If it feels awkward, it will most likely make an awkward pose for a drawing.

I've done a second version of my ice phoenix because I didn't really like the other one. (Pose is ref'd from several different eagle pics that I can't find right now). Tell me what you think. The feathers are icicles, btw, so the sharpness was done on purpose.

This is a dragon I am drawing for my cousin Ian, who is in the hospital. He had two double-lung transplants on the account that his white blood cells were destroying his lungs. Now his lungs are fine (the doctors shut down his white blood cells for a bit or something like that) but as a result, he now has cancer in his gut (idk where) and internal bleeding. I have to hurry up with this one.
