NDA Art Critique Message Boards

To explain it as short as possible, I began reading this Spyro fan fiction on FF.net, and I got hooked (even though there's quite a bit of romance and stuff). All of a sudden I began having weird ideas and thoughts of my character getting sucked into the world, and...yeah, this happened.


Basically, this is the ideas I had for the design. It's not yet complete, but I'm thinking of revising a few things, such as the attacks on the side. Didn't really intended to go a bit "Retro Spyro" on the character a bit, but I'll work that out later.


(By the way, I know I messed up the metal horn guards on the light version.)
A practice at drawing mugshots, but I also tried to draw a dark version of Jay. Oh and by the way, I didn't use Sharpie Markers here this time, but a pen called "Precise V5 Rolling Ball," which is an extra fine pen. It's great, since it doesn't bleed. Problem though, it does smear if you don't let it dry sometimes.

I might continuing drawing Spyro pictures if inspiration is high enough. I do plan to draw a full body picture as well in the future once I practice drawing a Dragon's body (especially a small one). For now, this is what I got. I'm looking for opinions, ideas, whatever you guys think would work.

Oh, and the fan fiction is called "The Legend of Spyro: Age of Heroes," but you kind of have to know the events of the game to understand everything.

In the second picture, yeah. Basically Jay's light side (normal) and Jay's dark side (corrupt). Spyro has something similar in "The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night" and "Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon."

If you want to try, go for it.
