Forgive me I've started this in the wrong board, I hope it's ok here though.

I have a question to ask those people who do commissions- how did you come to price your work?
I'm interested in opening commissions myself, but thing is, I don't particulary like my own work, so I don't want to make the mistake over over-pricing or under-pricing. Does anyone have a good way to figure the best prices out?

I can remember seeing a thread about this on NDA before, but I think it might have been on one of the older boards. I'm sorry if I'm wrong- I did do a search first but couldn't find anything.

Thanks to anyone who can give me any advice <3 <3 <3

Pricing is a difficult thing, since it's really based on supply and demand.
I wouldn't worry too terribly about over pricing your work. If you set a price, and people buy your work, your work is worth that price. If you set a price, and no one buys, then perhaps it'd be more beneficial to lower that price. If you set a price, and the demand is so high you never have time for anything else, jack those prices up!

Also, figure out what the minimum hourly wage is where you live--and vow not to work for less than that. If minimum wage is 8$ an hour, and you're only making 4$ an hour, you're really ripping yourself off.

Besides that, I'm not entirely sure I can offer any more advice, really. Dip your feet in with a starting price that you think is fair but is also worth your time--and gauge from there :]

Cheers! And good luck <3

Thanks muchly Mana <3 I really appreciate that :3

So it's more of a trial and error type thing ^^ I think I'll start lowish, and go from there. If there is interest then maybe after a while I'll put the prices up ^^
Minium wage is about £6 something around here, so thats a useful idea too ^^
Thank you again Mana <3
