Well... for your first attempt I'd have to say to avoid...

Worrying about it too much ;P

In all seriousness. The only thing I see wrong here is a lack of experience with the medium. Do 50 more. THEN consider asking... but don't ;P because the only thing you can REALLY do wrong with acrylics is letting them dry and having to repaint ... there's not really any set rules for the medium.

One tip though, don't be afraid to GOB that pain on there XD you can make some seriously neat designs and color combinations; plus add a nifty 3-d feel to it if you build up the paint in certain areas.

Only rules with acrylics is to not set your goal to LOW, or you'll be disappointed when you reach it and learn nothing :)

no no no, it's just a word. Like a glob of paint, but instead of a GLOB of paint it's a GOB of paint... same basic principle, kinda like .... goop! Glob, Gob, Goop ... loads of paint ^^; I just capitalize things to exclaim things because exclamation marks in the middle of a sentence looks funny :)

What Akeela means is to not be afraid to use a lot of paint. In your painting the blue background is really thin, and you can see the white underneath it. It might look kind of cool, but it also looks like you were scared of using the paint, especially when you look at the yellow flower in comparison. The flower is a lot thicker than the blue ground.
If you are afraid of wasting your paint you should consider getting some gel medium. When you mix it with a blob of paint it basically blends in and pretends it's paint, so that you have a little bit more than you started out with. Using too much will make the paint look sort of clear, but it's a fun tool.

AHA :D

Well this was my first try and i didnt expect anything, the outcome is/was completely random and the white spots dont matter at all... and i know i need more paint on to make such to not appear in the future. >:3

Thanks Akeela and Kanadra.

PS. I am from Finland... so dont worry as i still dont understand what GLOB or Gob or even what "gel medium" mean.

PPS. What flower? :-)

Perhaps it's the sun. The circular shape in yellow, with the strands going outwards.

"Gel medium" is a product that you add to paint to "extend or lengthen" it... Not make it longer, but make it last a bit longer, so that you don't have to always buy new paint.
