She's supposed to have a square jaw. A lot of the centaurs in the comic sort of do, with the possible exception of Snowfoot (snarky messenger). I tried to do the same with Sil, but it's hard to show that when he has his hair all in his face!


EDIT: Oh, and ref for Torin! Huzzah! His hand was originally up in that position for a fireball, but the fireball didn't make it to the final version...
Did I miss anything on the ref, anyone?

I like the reference sheet. Very well done! I like how you measured him in hands instead of feet or metric. Seems more fitting for someone who is half animal. ^^ One thing I think you missed (actually, it's just me being technical XD ): You said his hair is reddish-brown in the Spring. Does it change then, say during Fall/Winter?

Yeah, Wildblood's look is kinda different as a result of me trying to tinker with variety. XD No, I haven't seen many women like that either.

"Hands" is somethin' I made up for the comic. (I know it's also probably a real measurement fff) in the comic, though, it's the most common measurement used and it's between a foot and an inch. I just didn't want to do a foot, because even though it's the standard twelve inches in the comic, that would still confuse a lot of the characters ("What? Foot? Like, a human foot? Highland elf? Centaur? What?") but all species have very similar hands. So a six-inch "hand" measurement has been semi-officially adopted. *explainexplainrambleramble*

As for the hair thing, I wanted to point out the color but since it changes in winter I had to add the "in spring" tidbit. What I'm going to do is make a new ref for each season within the story, so when summer rolls around I'll make another... and then in fall... and then in winter. And the next spring.
In fall/winter it's greyish-brown and fluffier! His hair gets fluffier all over.

Yes, hands is a real measurement. It's used to measure horse height, usually ground to shoulder. I don't know if it's used for other livestock, but horses for sure. I like your point though. Feet would be confusing for so many different peoples.

Fluffier hair! I can't wait to see that in the comic. Will Sil poke fun of it? XD It seems like something he might do, even though probably all satyrs do it.

Sil will be gone within the next chapter or so, only to reappear next spring as a minor character. XD He'll have completely missed it, possibly to his dismay. Come winter, Torin will be in the company of people who know the hassles of winter fur!

Not all satyrs get winter coats... it depends on what species I based 'em off of, but some warmer-region types probably wouldn't and I don't know if the goats and sheep would. *shrug* More research is needed!

I think a hand, when used to measure horses, is four inches or so. I'm not sure, but I think I remember reading that somewhere... In WiF, the hands-and-feet measurements were probably developed by the vampires (who are most similar to standard humans), so when they refined their measures they probably just shrugged and said, "Screw it, this would be so easy if a hand was half a foot. Let's do it." That's the current canon theory I'm using to cover my fanny on this issue. XD

Well if that's the explanation for hands that you want, it works for me! It's your story!

Yeah, I actually decided mehbeh it would be better to change it back to feet instead, since seriously... I mean, not all humans have twelve-inch feet either and we all roll with it. XD I don't see why other species couldn't cooperate. So on the final version that's on the website he's 5.6 feet, which is just about roughly 5'7''.

Also, speaking of website, I has a new chibi but to see it I require a trick. So I would like anyone who wants to look to first click here and vote, and then the picture will show up! (So sneaky I am!) But the voting is completely safe and you don't have to sign in to anything. It's just to help push my comic up the list (and hopefully out of the 700s? XD) If it's a problem, though, I'll put up a direct link to the image file.

So yeah! Chibi Sil. I had the lines done for the longest time and just now got around to the rest. :3 I also have another picture done, but I'm saving it for the next vote incentive.

Feet, hands, meters, what's next? Ears? XD Ah well, what ever measurement works for you works for me as long as it stays constant.

Oh, the voting thing is that you have to click the box that matches the text on image that appears before you vote. It's so that bots don't vote for comics. (I don't get that because I'm already logged in! Haha!) If you saw the chibi, I'm guessing you chose the right one.

And yeah, in the next few pages (actually, likely the rest of his appearances from now on) he will be either panicked (as in page 76, which will be up this Sunday) or serious. He used to be a little sillier, but that's before he heard the news about Reper and realized how close the war was, I guess. *shrugs* My theory.


EDIT: Also, I checked and it looks like your vote counted. As of my checking just now, I'm in the 400s, but over the course of the month I'll probably be back up in at least the 600s. The votes reset every month, and since it's April first, 2 votes right from the start have pushed me forward for the time being.
