I've been wanting to experiment with 3D programs for a while now, so I got myself the trial version of Zbrush to playwith. I read up on some tutorials and here's what I eventually came up with, a cat-inspired humanoid creature (completely built up from a basic sphere, so no cheating).

I suppose the most fun aspect of this program or 3D in general is that you can actually rotate your creation into any perspective, making it a lot easier to understand the 3D form when you're trying to draw it. I might attempt to sketch a character and model it later on, but I'm really going to have to read up on some more tutorials because I find myself getting stuck a lot. I guess I understand the basics, but looking at a couple of professional models and their complexity, I'm MILES away from what I want to be doing.

*goes to practise*

Very nice. I would encourage you to go nuts with textures in the future - Zbrush is capable of absurd levels of detail with relative ease.

If you wanted to animate your character or improve the mouth (so that the lips aren't connected to the lower jaw), I recommend building a simple base in another program and Zbrushing that.

That said, I could never figure out Zbrush myself, though I do have an awesome book - I couldn't figure out how the program's mind worked, so to speak. Too used to Maya and Blender, I guess.

(looks at model again) Gotta say, you did really well around the eye.

This is my first ever 3D program or attempt at a 3D model so I suppose it's easier for me to learn, being new to it all. I still have to experiment with the textures, I'd like to see if I can create a few brushes of my own.

Since this is my first ever attempt at 3D I have absolutely no idea how I would have to animate this or even make a base model in a different program, haha. I'll look into it sometime though.

Thanks a lot!

Added slightly stronger lines here and there, gave the nostrils and ears more depth and tried to fix the eyes. Also added a wee bit more texture. I think I'm calling this one done now though, I'll go crazy with detail and texture on a different model.

Looks like you've got an artifact or something on his/its(?) jawline.

Looks really good for a first!

An artifact? Sorry? xD I'm not too sure what you mean!

Thank you!

There's a small sharp line visible in the second and fourth pictures, more or less straight down and forward from the ear. It's next to the first major angle in the jawbone.

Next time, you should think about increasing your resolution - I can see a lot of polygons on the lips.

Hmm, I kept dividing the polygons to get rid of the most obvious ones, but this particular model is already at over 2 million polygons and I feared pushing the software's capabilities (or my computer's, for that matter) too far. I'll experiment with it some more later on.

I see which line you mean now, I guess I missed that bit with the smoothing tool. Ah well xD. Better luck next time.

Wow that looks great :D

I personally fin sculpting easier than 3d modelling, XD
Gosh that looks time consuming and hard to make (based on my experience)
