New piece!!!

So, the stuff in black is already decided on (position, etc., but can be changed if needed). The red is the general placement/what I think will work, and the purple is the stuff I need help on. Mainly, the legs. He's a wyvern and gripping to the side of a vertical cliff, but no matter how I place his legs, they doesn't look right.

Of course, help on everything else would be wonderful too (I will probably be extending the pic so we can get the tail in, btw), but the legs are what I'm focusing on right now.

Thanks!!

OK, I've updated the wyvern cliff thing. I was a speedpaint, I guess you could call it, with lineart (took me about 45 min to an hour :/)

Any help is still appreciated, I might still update it.

And do you want more of the tail showing? I could extend the picture down, or I could leave it as it is. Doesn't bother me wither way :-)

I love how this turned out! :) it has a very light, energetic feel to it. Just remember to always have a Line Of Motion, it helps with the overall feel, and anatomy. But don't worry, this is a wonderful picture! (I love the little dragon in the bg!)

I also really admire the amount of motivation you have! Even when you get stuck, or no one c&c's, or anything, you keep going. This really is a great thing to have! I wish I had as much motivation as you :)

Thanks!! I was originally going for a darker look, but it didn't really suite the wyvern (obviously not, he's smiling! :amused: )

Oops! I never draw line of motions - maybe it's time to start, non? :)

Well, I was getting bored of waiting, so....XD. But thank you for that wonderful comment :-) The trick to it is to keep on working at it and pretend you have critique! Make it up yourself! Then follow it! :D

And you have plenty of motivation! I've seen it, keep it up! :)

(lol, a smiley in every line :wutno: )

And now I'm on to jwindjackal's request (and my first request!)!

Please, don't look at the small, backwards wing. Let us pretend it doesn't exist. And I know, it's connected along the body instead of one place. It looks better this way. Trust me.

He's supposed to be holding a crystal ball/round thing. So any help with the hands would be much appreciated, thanks!

And a quick question for jwindjackal: Does the wind jackal have fur? I thought I heard you mention it before in one of your descriptions on DA. Thanks!

I'll probably try to give you a redline later on, but just now I'd like to say his feathers are layered in the wrong direction. Excuse my horrible English; I don't know how to explain it properly xP I'll show you some pictures instead.

Here's a wing seen from below:

And here's a wing seen from above:

Judging by the layering of the windjackal's wing feathers, we're seeing his wing from above, and not from below. Because from below the first primary feather overlaps the second primary feather, and the second overlaps the third and so on, and it goes the other way from above - the third feather is on top of the second, which is on top of the first.

I hope that at least made some sense xP

Ya, I know. I was using a ref, but then later noticed that the wing bas backwards/upside down :-( (on the dragon). I have started fixing that.

And don't worry, that made perfect sense. You are basically saying that the feathers are overlapping in the wrong way :amused:

Thanks for the help :D

OK, I 'fixed' the wing ( I hope it's better than before!), and I also started doing the hind leg. But it doesn't look right. Is it too small? Too short? Whatever it is, thanks for the critique in advance :)

And,of course, if there is anything else wrong with it, please tell me!

The first thing I notice is that your dragon looks very stiff/geometric. You'd be able to give your dragons more realistic musculature/anatomy if you practiced drawing from photo references and real-life. I recommend drawing humans, lizards, and birds from reference for practice. You can use yourself as reference too, especially when it comes to dragon arms (since most people draw dragons with human-like arms). I notice that you put the dragon's thumb on the wrong side of the hand. If you had modeled the pose in the mirror beforehand, you might have caught that.

Also, when drawing a dragon's tail, you must make sure that -all- parts of the tail are rounded, otherwise it'll look weird.

Red line attached. The blue lines show which direction the feathers should point in. The feathers closest to a bird's back are almost always parallel to the back itself; they never point into the back.

I've actually already fixed the wing (well, half-fixed it, anyway), tail, and back/head (also the eye) this weekend while I was at my family reunion, but arms and legs have always given me trouble. I suppose I really should just spend a period of time working on just them (not to mention feet and hands), but alas, I am too lazy and I still have homework I need to work on.

I'll go and post the new version as soon as I can (it's on my laptop).

Thanks for the critique!

Today in biology class, we are going to dissect this creature's wings. Or, more accurately, the supposed 'feathering technique' that the creator 'used'. As you can see, it looks more like frosted glass. So please be thorough in the dissection, class, and perhaps we may teach the god of this particular world a lesson.

OK, I was bored ._. But the "feathers" technique is failing horribly. I've looked everywhere, but I couldn't find a tut on how to actually 'cheat' or make it look like the feathers are there without lineart or doing them individually. What would you suggest? Should I actually do them individually, or is there a better way out there  And any help with the rainbow patterning?

I also fixed some stuff that grandioze and other people pointed out, thank you all for the help and the red lines!! (I actually fixed more stuff than that, but Paint.Net crashed and I had to restart fixing it up). (I know the alula are screwed up - I might fix them soon. Any help with them are appreciated).

Ignore the colouring/shading (or lack of), it's temporary.

(And the wing and tail are cut off a bit to make the picture a small enough size so I can post it)
