I keep starting things and not finishing them! Since I never finished that 'Fairy Magic' thing I posted here, but uh... still hope to at some point! I just never get around to it.

Anyway, I was digging around in my art folders and I found a low-resolution JPEG thing of an image I'd started and hoped to actually turn into a finished piece, but didn't have the patience to finish. I left it there to rot until I found it again today, enlarged it in Photoshop, and started painting over it.



So, now I've begun the slow process of refining the thing, unsure of whether or not I'll actually finish it! (I also wrote more about it in my art blog.)

The leaves on those trees are totally the most amazing foliage I've ever seen.

I'm dreadfuly evious. It looks aweshum so far.

Not bad! I'd like to see it finished. I think it will turn out great!

And it's turning out better than I expected it would too, so that's always a bonus. o_O
I bet I get to those trees though and they end up all ridiculous-looking! I've never been any good at colouring trees. I'm also concerned about the sky since I'm painting everything on a single layer and it's sort of hard to paint parts of the sky without colouring over the trees. I might end up making a separate 'sky' layer if I can be bothered.

I really like it! I love the water! And the creature is ssssooooo cute!!!!!

Well, I think I'm going to go to bed now since my hand and body are so stiff and sore from working on this; I keep needing to get up every few minutes to stretch and wiggle my fingers.



So much detail...! And all the lovely little details like cracks and things I put in the rocks are barely noticeable when the image is shrunk! Pfft! Hopefully I can finish this tomorrow.

Oh wow! I really hope you finish the piece, because it's very nice.
I can't believe you're doing it all on one layer - I'd be way too paranoid and chicken to attempt that.
Don't give up! Keep trucking on until it's finished!

I'm glad everyone likes it so much! Anyway, I slept terribly last night since my mind was active with eagerness to work on this painting more, so I just spent seven hours lying fully conscious in bed with my eyes closed... I had a bit of a slow start this morning, but now I'm making decent progress again.



Leaves! And more refined rocks! Rocks rocks rocks, I'm so tired of painting blasted rocks!

I've finally started using more than one layer though! Because I was really unsure about whether the trees would come out looking okay or not, so in the event that I didn't and wanted to try again, I created new layers for those. And another new layer for the glowy effects around the lanterns. I'd normally probably want to have things like flowers, the sky, the creature, etc. all on separate layers, but I didn't think I'd actually get very far with this and it also feels faster and less confusing not having to worry about switching between layers to make sure I'm drawing on the right one!

I really like how the trees turned out! And I think your doing great! Keep up the good work!
