HURRAY I am so glad you think the recent one is better. Every slightly so often I get a comment about two arts from different dates saying the older, crappier one is the one they like. It sucks. BUT I am glad to hear the new one is an improvement. Anything has to be an improvement from that first one... I think that was when I was afraid of dark shading and distinctive face shapes. XD

Also, just some quick stuff here - MapleStory - "Awoken" and MapleStory - "So Serious". These are some things I did to try and liven up the Fan Submissions forum on the MapleStory site... you know, get some actual art on there instead of half-finished fanfics or ideas for new classes Nexon will never make. XD The first is the hero Aran being woken from a 100-year sleep (or something like that) by a girl named Lilin. The second is the Thief-class job instructor, Dark Lord, and the Dual Blade-subclass job instructor, Lady Syl - who happens to be his ex. Most of the Dual Blade questline revolves around that. XD (It's more complicated, trust me.) Anyway, just thought I'd share. Sadly, everyone on the forums ignores the art and looks at user-proposed class concepts...

Dark Lord was a little tricky to draw, mostly because of all the little details. Not to mention, the ref I was using was a wallpaper from the events when the Dual Blade class came out. I don't know what the artist was thinking when they made that wallpaper, but Dark Lord only nominally resembled Dark Lord in my opinion. o_o;;; He was in some kind of horrible PURPLE jumpsuit thing (I toned down the purple, obv) and he looked... eh, kinda fat. Really bugged me. It's like they didn't even look at the game sprite when they did that official art.

...I like my version better. XD

I would tell you if he really is at all funny or cute in the game, but sadly most of the original job instructors (Dark Lord and the jobmasters for mages, bowmen, and warriors) have really generic dialogue. The most I can get out of Dark Lord is if you're a level 30+ Dual Blade, he'll be kinda mean to you. Of course, that's after you, as a Dual Blade, have stirred havoc in Kerning City and (among other things) set off a bomb in the jazz bar/thief hideout. I can kinda understand why he wouldn't like you. XD But besides that, the dialogue is shamefully generic. (If you're a regular thief, though, he becomes nicer as you make job advancements. He's pretty "meh" toward you as a rogue, friendly in second job, and impressed at third job. XD Can't wait to see how he is at fourth job.)

New vote incentive again...
Is it bad of me to keep putting up my art here as vote incentives for my comic? I mean, it's new and I want to show it off, but my new stuff is always used as vote incentives... If that's cheesy and lame, tell me.

Anyway, this picture shows Torin with a small congregation of Dryads. These are nature spirits who usually inhabit trees and the like, and Dryads will usually look somewhat like the tree they inhabit. (This isn't supposed to be any kind of tree in particular, in this picture.) If you try to damage or cut down a tree that a Dryad is living in, be ready for a heck of a fight! They are protector spirits and will do battle with you if you threaten them or make them mad.

...If you ask kindly before you cut the tree down, and maybe even tell them what you're using the wood for, they'll usually be happy to move into a different tree. In this case, it's easier to ask permission than forgiveness! They're very fond of Satyrs and will often join in festivals with them. The watery equivalent of Dryads are Naiads, who often inhabit and protect bodies of water like lakes and such. Dryads and Naiads protect living nature, while Liches protect the dead. Liches are ghostly beings that look over battlefields and sometimes even bury the dead if the bodies are left unattended. Liches appear more like centaurs.


I don't know if "Dryad", "Naiad", or "Lich" are words I'll stick with. I may look up different mythologies' equivalents, if there are any. Looking for something a little more Irish/Celtic with the satyr ones and perhaps more Native American with the Liches.

That's really cool! I never thought of the dryads looking that way! I love it! Torin looks happy to play his flute for them. lol

No, I think it's cool that you post your newest up for the incentives. It doesn't hurt anyone to vote for the comic, and it helps you out too! Keep up the good work, Atomic! I can't wait to know what Borthro is going to do! But, who's his brother??

The newest page should slightly clear up who his brother is. Together, the Kirsaians have two gods - one for north, one for south.

Thought I'd throw this up here! I've been forgetting to update this thread regularly.
My art will now be separated between this (for finished, original works) and the MapleStory and rough works thread (for... MapleStory and rough works). I might possibly throw other fan art in there if I decide to draw anything Homestuck-related or something.

Gaia Online! Just to warn you, it's definitely a PG-13 site. Most of the people there are pretty nice, though. I roleplay there.
