oooooo I seeeee.
Well... go get 'em!

AND!
Never say you're not that great.. it's a weird artists affiliation we suffer from, never thinking we're good.
You're only ever as good as you think you are, you won't be anything more than that :)

Sorry if this has been repeated above...

Don't get stuck on details. Work in shadows, not line, then render out the details. Getting stuck on details causes tangents and the main idea of the picture can be lost.

Also, DON'T GIVE UP. There are no bad pictures, just results. You learn from results. Work toward your goal.

I'm going to post what I said to another person that asked this same question.

I think it's great that you want to draw humans. I mostly draw humans. For years I was afraid to but finally I tackled it. Still getting the hang of it. I love drawing men. They are easier. I still have a lot to learn about how to draw women though. My advice is don't start with super hard realism. I kinda waded into drawing humans because I started to draw Simpsons first which are really easy. Once I got comfortable with that and had some original characters it wasn't too hard to translate them into more realistic looks. I don't do anything by conventional means. I don't use references for humans except a mirror for myself and I will sometimes get in the poses. Funny because I draw men so I'm not the reference I should look at, but I just need a basic idea as I can't see things too well in my head. Have a look through my deviant gallery to see some of my guys.

I want to add that learning to draw humans is actually learning to draw two different creatures. Men and women are different and usually you'll master one before the other. But it is a wonderful skill to have. Yeah you'll make mistakes and it will look horrible at first but no one but you has to see them until you're comfortable. You just have to keep at it. I'm all about expressions. I think the face and emotion is the most important thing so get good at drawing heads then the body is much easier. Hands are just evil all around.
