Very epic win :)

Honestly.
Their cartoons, they're ment for kids, you really think kids are goign to care the color of someone's skin? They're happy to see a cartoon.
If anything it's empowerign to these little girls who ARE black and they see, 'yeah there IS a disney princess who has my skin color... look how TOTALLY AWESOME she is' They're kids. It was like seeing Pocahontas for me. Wow... there's a NATIVE princess... that means I'm a princess too. When we're kids and we watch them, we watch them for what they are, tales of heroic battles, happily ever afters and animals that can talk. We're not digging that deep to see ''oooooo they're RACIST ebcause they only have WHITE people' or yadda-yadda.
It's just like those people who figure since Disney released The Fox and the hound they're all PETA followers because they show how bad it is to kill animals... I'm sorry when was it EVER ok to kill an animal on PROTECTED land for sport... or for sport in general? It's a great show about compassion and kids get that, but for some reason all these sport hunting parents are all 'oh noes PETA PEOPLE' ... honestly guys. The same parents (they're an old friends parents) wouldn't let their daughter watch Robin Hood, because apparently talking animals mean the devil is involved... like common...

Not everything is PG, Nightmare Before Christmas wasn't and neither are the Pirates of Caribbean series. I believe they're both PG-13 for scary scenes.

Up was adorable.
Taken was absolutely awesome.
Memoirs of a Geisha was a gooder...
Animated, Drama, Comedy...
I pretty much avoid scary movies... I have a hard time watching ET ... because he sounds like velociraptor >.> haven't actually seen that show it like.. came out XD

i sort of agree with andantonius in the way that i hate the princesses in movies where they run away and a prince has to save them i dont mind the whole prince saving them thing but geez why do they need to be wimps

>_>; Eh, I was kidding when I was talking about the racist Disney... it was based mostly on a stupid conversation I had had with my friend after we saw the new trailer. I'm sorry the internet can't carry my sarcastic tone :why: ... I get that problem a lot. ._.;

Mulan wasn't a wimp and she's no princess. ...though in reality she was killed (Cough). Really, I never dug the whole princess stories even as a kid. I was more for the cartoons where it was a team that got to save the day... like... hrum. Rescuers Down Under? (I can't think of any others right now.)

Haha it's always hard to tell online :9 unless you make it really obvious you're satirizing the situation.

The problem is, the movie has been receiving a lot of flak from people tossing the 'racism' card at it--so hearing someone complain about it here isn't too far out.

It's still annoying that the movie's 'controversy' even exists at all D;

Don't worry Hel pup, I'm pretty sure both Mana and I knew you were being sarcastic, but people really do think like that.

I think the biggest problem I have with any cartoon is something known as the Smurfette principle. Basically it says that women and girls in tv shows and movies are all shown as "types" they fulfil roles like "mother" "daughter" "sister" but rarely do the characters go beyond that. This is especially obvious in children's shows where most main characters are male.

I was extremely excited to learn that in a show my 4 year old neice watches called "The Wonder Pets" (it's actually really cute) two out of the three heros are girls, one girl is the leader of the group adn the other girl is a daredevil brave girl who still manages to be adorable. The boy? He's the compassionate empathatic one, not a role often played by a boy.

If you're curious give this a read: http://personalwebs.oakland.edu/~kitche ... ollit.html

It was enlighting and saddening. Since that was written things have gotten better, but not a whole lot.

haha yeah... gota love the interwebs :)
You may have been kidding (obviously XD) but there's some people out there >.> *shifty eyes* even my grandpa was talking about how they just haaad to make a black girl the main character, which I thought was pretty low (alcohol or not!) but it just goes to show you society hasn't changed at all D:

Pocahontas was still the best <.<
That actually sounds like a cute show dark. I liek the part where the boy is the empathetic one. I think teaching boys they CAN have emotions is ok XD silly boys :P

Don't worry Akeela, my grandmother is the Same way. She once told me that Native Americans aren't real Americans, I told her that she was a white supremacist. Ah good times

Anyways, I'm interested in seeing this new disney movie. I hope it'll be good!

I love a movie that makes me cry. Marley and Me was a great movie. It made me laugh, but cry my eyes out at the end. Slumdog Millionaire ; another great one. Shouldn't have been rated R, in my view. Any Tim Burton movie is the perfect movie for me (I'm partial to TNBC :) ) . The Phantom of the Opera with Gerry Butler ( :happy: ), Emmy Rossum and Patrick Wilson or (if you like black-and-white silent films) Lon Chaney's 1925 version of PotO. I love movies :wiii: .

-stares at all the posts-
People don't need to make any sort of fuss over this. Anyone who does is racist themself.
