haku [Profile] 2010/8/28 - 20:18:17 takee off about a half an hour... iahd to eat and help with cousins. well this was honestly just an experimentation with layers.. iused 13 of em haha. so iwas rlly trying and i was to lazt for a background. just bored and whalah! so lol i hope u guys like, if not dnt wrry bout it. im not that proud of it, im just glad i finally figured out layers.. i dnt even hav a tablet. so C&C greatly appreciated. thnx for ur time lizziecat1279 [Profile] 2010/8/28 - 21:22:2 I think i like your style. and don't worry about not having a tablet. until very recently (the last week or so), i was reduced to drawing with a laptop touchpad.
the glasses are pretty good, and i really like the shirt and the pattern on it.
my only real crits are the shoulders and the hair.
the shoulders need to slope into the arm more. the way you have it drawn, it's an unnatural right angle. see? [link] (how you have it drawn) [link] (more or less how it should be drawn). now it could just be your style, but i'm letting you know ^^
and then the hair. it's not the actual hair itself, but it looks like you tried to blend it into the bg using the gradient tool right? well, what happened with that, you must have had the hair on a seperate layer and tried to blend it. but when you do that, it doesn't blend into the bg, it blends into the surrounding white on it's own layer.
if you want a smoother line for the hair, try using the watercolor tool. it produces a nice soft line, the only problem is that you have to go over it multiple times. and the part that curves around the back should be darker then the front pieces (if that makes sense at all)
other then those two things, this is a pretty good piece. other users might add things i missed, but i like it ^^ can't wait to see more! lizziecat1279 [Profile] 2010/8/28 - 21:22:26 *sweatdrop* wow i wrote a lot... mogshot [Profile] 2010/8/29 - 4:9:8 Don't worry about tablets. I don't regularly use them for online media and it should never be a factor on how well you do on your artwork anyway nor should there be any room for regrets. Love your art, save it for future references and grow. It is a piece of you and just like you, should be treated with respect.
Its a great piece.
Be careful of blurring, it has the ability to grab other colors you wouldn't expect. :)
haku [Profile] 2010/8/29 - 9:18:34 thanks you guys =) after lookinig at the finsihed product, inoticed that it looked pretty out of proportion. iwas too lazy to finish it haha. but ineed to take my time if i want my art to look good. and like u said, save it and learn to grow from it. Thank u and i will definetly work on blending..it looks pretty unnatural. thanks for th crits :D
